Lucky Me, I Was Nominated For The Liebster Award

I am fortunate enough to be a part of the Her Campus Blogger Network with a talented group of bloggers. When I saw that I had been nominated for the Liebster Award, I was so excited, but I had no idea what it was...

The Liebster Award is given to up-and-coming bloggers and gives bloggers the chance to answer 11 questions about themselves and tag other bloggers to answer some more questions! It's not really an award, but it's something fun that gives bloggers the chance to get to know each other. Thanks Tricia from Beauty & a Blog for nominating me!

So, here are my answers to Tricia's questions.

1. Backstreet Boys or N*Snyc?  Why?
Backstreet Boys, definitely. I had the biggest crush on all of the boys. Literally all of them. One of my favorite songs (still) is "Backstreet's Back". N*Sync's songs don't even compare...Oh and they were a little more BA than N*Sync. All girls like boys that are a little more bad, right?
2. If you could cast anyone to play you in a movie, who would it be?
Not that I think I'm nearly as cool as her, but Jennifer Lawrence. I loved her role in Silver Linings Playbook (and obviously so did everyone else). She has that sarcastic, witty thing going for her that I think I have. She also has the darker, questionable side to her which I definitely share with her. I felt that I was similar to her character in Silver Linings. I think that we definitely have similar personalities and she could play "Natasha Whitby" really well.
3. What is something that you are most proud of?
I'm most proud of my mother. She is superman in a little, tiny woman form. She works so hard to give me everything I could ever ask for. AND she is hilarious without even trying. Sometimes I think my friends like her more than me.

4. If you were to die today, what is one word that you hope to be remembered by?
Free-spirited.
5. What is something you've done this past year that would surprise your previous self?
I've apologized more often. Being an only child, I grew up getting what I want. I'll admit it, I'm spoiled and stubborn. But this year, and my roommate can vouch for me, I've been able to get over being stubborn and having things my way. I have been able to forgive and forget.
6. What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
When people tell me what to do, I don't  do it  (it must be the only child in me). You can ask me nicely to do something, but it's my pet peeve when a friend tells me to do something.
7. What is the top thing on your bucket list?
It sounds cliche and simple and not that creative, but I don't think I will have lived life to the fullest without traveling the world. I honestly think I have some sort of travel-separation anxiety because whenever I travel, I get really attached. My mom was fortunate enough to travel the world "before she had me". I would like to be part of my own "Eat, Pray, Love". Some places that are on my bucket list are Amsterdam, Barcelona, Sydney, Dubai, Morocco and Brazil. I'd like to go to Lebanon as well (Lebanese food is my favorite)! I've been to Bali as a kid since my mom is from there, but I need to go again! I studied abroad in Florence, so I really would like to get back there as well.
8. What is something that you always need with you? (besides the obvious like cell phone and keys)
I always need any sort of lip product (lip balm, lip gloss, lipstick). I feel naked without anything on my lips and it's really important to wear lip balm.
9.  What is your biggest beauty secret?
Everyone could use some concealer. It brightens your under eye area and highlights your face. I never skimp on concealer. It just makes your skin look brighter, healthier and more luminous without looking like you have too much makeup on. Apply it under your eyes, brow bone, above your brown bone, your cheekbones, on your cupid's bow and corner your lips. I like to draw a triangle below my eyes (down the nose and diagonally up to my temples) to really add a nice Kim K glow.
10. What is the best prank you've ever played on someone?
I play jokes on people all the time so it's hard to come up with one, but my friend told me about one prank that I had to try: hide in the showers at parties and scare people as they walk in to use the bathroom. It's hilarious!

11. Are you an early bird or a night-owl?
Night-owl, for sure. I can stay up until 5am easily, but do not try and wake me up at 8am.

So here are my questions:
1. If you could have been born in another era, what would it be?
2. What do you pin the most on Pinterest?
3. What is your dream job?
4. Who's your favorite Disney princess?
5. What was your favorite Nickelodeon show?
6. Where would you live if you could live in any part of the world for free?
7. What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
8. What did you do over spring break?
9. Which blogs inspire you the most?
10. What is your favorite part about Spring?
11. If a genie gave you three wishes, what would they be?

Sweetest of Them All

I was lucky enough to receive the SweetHeart VoxBox from Influenster a few weeks ago that was filled with amazing swag from Olay, Skinnygirl, Secret and Not Your Mother's Brand. I already did a review of the delicious Skinnygirl Daily On-The-Go Bars and you can check that out here

Olay Fresh Effects
The Va-Va-Vivid Powered Contour Cleansing System came with the Shine, Shine Go Away Shine Minimizing Cleanser and the power brush. I was a little skeptical at first because I own the Clarisonic and I love it. I couldn't imagine how a small drugstore power brush could live up to the $150 power brush. I am not going to compare the two because I do like my Clarisonic Mia better, but for someone that is looking for an inexpensive power brush, the Olay Fresh Effects is perfect. I really like the triangular shape because it is easier to go around smaller parts of your face. It also vibrates instead of turning (like other drugstore power brushes) which is better for your skin.

The cleanser is not my favorite cleanser, but it does it's job. Usually, when I am using a shine minimizing cleanser, I expect to have a really "clean" feeling after I was my face. This cleanser made me feel like I still had some residue on my face. Other than that, it does its job as a shine minimizing cleanser because I was shine free almost all day. The brush is definitely the better half of the set.

I have heard amazing things about this brand though, the facial wipes are the best!

Secret Clinical Strength Stress Sweat Deodorant
I was surprised to see that I got deodorant in the VoxBox; it's so convenient to receive complimentary, but I felt a little awkward about reviewing a deodorant. I never really needed any clinical strength deodorant, because excessive sweating or odor has never been an issue for me. That being said, I tried this for the first time when I went on spring break. This was perfect because I could pack it in my beach bag to prevent smelling like I just laid out on the beach for hours. The trick to this deodorant is to put it on at night as a preventative measure. This is great because if you're in a hurry the next morning you don't need to worry about putting deodorant on. Oh, and this stuff smells great! Love, love, love this deodorant, so I think that it's great for people with or without the need of clinical strength.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray
This was the product I was most excited about. I've always wanted to try a sea salt spray, but I was afraid I wouldn't get the same "wavy" effect because of my naturally curly hair. So, no, this product did not make my hair less curly (which that would be amazing if I could get sexy, beachy waves), but I had sexy, bed-head curly hair which is one of my favorite looks. I don't like have clean, classic curls. I love the messy look and this is what this spray gave me. The one thing I could live without is the texture it gives my hair, but that's the whole point of the product because it leaves a matte finish.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with all the products I received. I would repurchase the NYM Sea Salt Spray, the Skinnygirl bars and the Secret Deodorant because they all work so well.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
